The Al-Awawda Family’s Story of Survival
In January, the Al-Awawda family’s home was reduced to rubble by an indiscriminate bombing. Their son, Ahmed, was found sitting atop the remains, witnessing the destruction of his world. Tragically, Adel Al-Awawda's nephew and father were killed in the same attack. Since then, the family of eight has been displaced four times, forced to seek refuge in bombed-out zones, living through cold nights with no food or warm clothing, as no place in Gaza has proven safe.Now, they reside in a warehouse next to the remnants of their home, which continues to be targeted by Israeli forces. With no safe haven and the constant threat of violence, they are in urgent need of assistance. Deputy Ambassador Vincent Lyn has been working tirelessly to help them escape the horror and give them a chance to rebuild their lives.
